It really happened!!!! DD9 will be moving into 5th grade next Wednesday!!!!! After a huge meeting with 11 people (!!!!!), it was approved!! The district AIG specialists later stated that even before they led the meeting, going over the Iowa Acceleration Scale, they had decided to move DD into 5th from 4th. And while earlier they had mentioned moving DD to a different school because her big sister is in 5th (Iowa scale frowns on moving kids into sibling's grade), they didn't even flinch when we asked that she stay in the same school, just a different class. Wow. Can't believe it. The AIG specialists stated that they had done 4 accelerations in the past few weeks!!
Now we work on the emotional piece of all the changes for our family, and work to fill in gaps she might have.
    I'm in shock!
Forgive any spelling errors - I'm doing this on my phone.

That's great! Congrats on your advocacy. That is encouraging that they have done 4 accelerations. Sounds like someone paved the way and the school discovered that it works.

Congratulations! I agree, that's great that they are now approving not just your DD's acceleration, but several others, thus making it less of an unusual event.

How wonderful! And even better that they have done 4 accelerations, so your DD will not be alone in that category!

Congratulations to both greenlotus and TripleB. Both a success and a validation for all the hard work and angst. I wish you both a smooth transition.
