Hello! I've been working with a private homeschool student on the topic of the Salem Witch Trials. She is still passionate about the topic and we're looking to extend the idea and invite others to join. With my student and her mother's input, I've created a learning club around the subject. Each week will involve some background on the Salem Witch Trials and I will facilitate a discussion on a related topic. Then, there will be time for the girls to design and create a project together (examples: a skit with set/costume design, an interactive museum).
I like to keep things fluid so I can see what unfold with the students, but the general structure I've mapped out is:
Week 1- Intro day; history of the trials; brainstorm for creative project
Week 2- Women's Rights
Week 3- Stereotyping, judging people for being different
Week 4- Current events that compare to the themes of the witch trials
Week 5- Complete and share creative project
In general, we are interested in gathering a group of homeschoolers who are interested in participating in some thoughtful discussions. So, if you're interested, but these dates & times don't work for you, please reach out. I can create a customized experienced based on the group's needs.
