OK, so here is the thread I initially posted about DS9's results. I was under the impression it was the KTEA II but it was the WIAT III.
    http://giftedissues.davidsongifted....04/KTEA_Results_Are_Back.html#Post199104

    Math Problem Solving
    SS 124
    % Rank 95th
    GE 5.7
    AE 10.8

    Numerical Operations
    SS >160
    % Rank >99.9th
    GE 6.7
    AE 12.0

What are the differences between the KTEA and WIAT? Also, he entered DS9's grade as being 1 grade higher (completed through 4th instead of through 3rd). Does that change the grade equivalent results? The age entered was correct.

DS9 had an issue with the ceiling effect on the numerical operations so we really do not know just how advanced he really is. Is there a different test that would be better?

If these are SS based on age norms, it should not matter what grade he put in. If these age from grade norms, they may be a low estimate of SS. The KTEA and WIAT are similar in structure for math.

From a standard score/percentile standpoint, another test will probably not give you much more information, as few tests go beyond 160. Maybe the WJIII/IV. From an instructional placement point, I would suggest end-of-course placement testing, or readiness testing (e.g., pre-algebra), preferably tied to the school curriculum. Keeping in mind that problem solving encompasses the more critical reasoning and conceptual understanding aspect of math, I would look more to mps for a level. The num ops task is not really at the grade level that the GE suggests, since most children are not 100% accurate with skills at their grade level (and of course with all the usual GE AE caveats).

We will see the psych again in October but I am going to call him this week about it. I wasn't given the raw scores and I'm not sure if he graded by age or grade.
