    I'm a wimpy, pale shadow of a TigerMom.

    LOL! I love it!

    (wanted to separate this awesome-ness from the other very long thread, but this had to be showcased all on it's own!)

    Share any other fabulous quotable quotes you have found lately here laugh

    Madoosa - Love the quote & topic but... I don't know how to make a "quote" like you :-(

    Very well stated BLACKCAT!

    "What is it that I want? I want my children to make at least one year academic gain in every subject in school each year without being enriched/supplemented at home, just like what is expected of children of average abilities."

    I am thinking of emailing this to my (expensive, private) school... and tell them if they can't accomplish it, I will need to find a new school for my boys!

    Aww-- thanks, Madoosa. blush

    If any of you knew me IRL, this particular turn of phrase really WOULD make you laugh out loud. I'm anything but passive by gender normative standards. Quite feisty, in fact. I also see a lot of my less savory personality quirks inherent IN Amy Chua, let's just say.

    But yes, I see my role in my DD's life as being to serve as drag when she needs it as much as to provide push when she needs THAT. She wanted to be enrolled in college by age 12; this was a stated goal from age 2, btw. I provided drag because I could see reasons why it wouldn't be the right thing.

    Ergo, I'm not a Tiger Mom. At least-- not that way. More like a Grizzly Mom. Moose Mom, maybe. {snicker}

    haha I am sure that we could come up with an entire zoological classification system for parenting utilizing various traits. laugh

    O/T: I'd love to chat at another time about the drag you provided. My oldest (now 7) has recently set a goal to complete high school level by age 12. Very practical reasons from his POV, and I am gladly willing to provide loads of drag. His younger brother looks set to complete at the same time (he will then be 10) and I definitely need drag.
