I just ran across this and wondered if anyone has looked it over. I'm still wandering through the pages.

It's a new and highly selective college starting up this fall. Says the (very limited) first-year class gets free tuition for all four years.

ETA: fascinating concept! They will have campuses all over the world, and students will switch up among them each semester after the first year in San Francisco. I'm not sure yet that it would work for DS, but I want to go. smile

Also, "highly selective" means merit criteria -- and it says they will accept any student who meets the criteria.

    I've seen it.

It looks interesting... if high-risk. (IME, anyway)

It's not do-able for my DD for other reasons, but the model seems like one that would be truly amazing for an HG+ student with the right set of interests.

I know -- I thought of you when I saw it, but realized your DD probably couldn't take advantage of it with all the world-traveling. That pretty much does away with the "live at home" thing.

I'm going to keep an eye on it and see how it flies. It could turn out to be useful down the road, one never knows.

I can't really get a handle on it from the web-site. It's clear it's more an idea/experiment and it might be really interesting/challenging for the right kid. Traditional university isn't the best place for all kids. But your child would need to be interesting in taking a risk on something brand new. I think one would really need to make sure the "FIT" was right for this school, as moving to a new location every semester sounds cool. But I know all the world traveling wouldn't be a good fit for my son.

I've looked into private high schools and been initially interested from their marketing on the web-site. But been less and less impressed when I've delved into more details. This web page seems like a slickly designed web page, that doesn't have a lot of content & staff behind it yet.

After looking at the school, I've applied. High risk? Yes, but if I'm accepted, I'll get my tuition waived for being in the founding class. The moving around and curriculum sounds perfect for my interests. And there's no application fee for this year.

I just figure, what have I got to lose?
