Not trying to plug... but be aware if you live in northeast Ohio... the state's only all gifted public school is available to serve.

Lorain Gifted Academdy is a Constellation Charter school (which means tuition is FREE). Next year, the school will serve K-6 (hoping to grow to K-8). It is rated Excellent several years now by the state. Early entrance is an easy conversation. Kindergarten is an all day program. Math is offered at 9am for all grades and students attend the grade of math that is appropriate for their abilities.

Currently, students come from Lorain, North Ridgeville, Avon, Avon Lake, Olmsted Falls, Sheffield, Oberlin, Rocky River, to name a few districts.

Entrance is based on testing FSIQ 127+. The school provides free testing for school candidates.

Programs includes Meet the Masters (Art program), Music, Spanish (all grades), and all the perks of depth/speed you'd expect from self contained gifted classrooms. Busing available from some districts.

Well... ask if you have questions. It is a choice for some.

Lorain Gifted Academy Closes. They oversight board for a system of charter schools to which the gifted school belonged.... voted to close the gifted school.

Anyone in Lakewood, Ohio want to adopt my kids so they can go to the best local school district for GT? What to do. The city of Lorain is starting a Magnet school with open enrollment for GT. For some a good option, for us, I don't know - the area is so far and doesn't feel safe - doing it once with an established school but again for a first year school.... oh what to do.
