We got back the results of the Wisc-IV test with the following:
    Verbal Comprehension: 99 percentile
    Perceptual Reasoning: 99.7 percentile
    GAI: 99.9 percentile

Can someone help me interpret these scores? I have been asked to come in and meet with the teacher. I want to be prepared on what I should ask them and what they would want to do next.

Does this mean work more on verbal skills?

    Thanks!

Percentile compares with the population so no it doesn't mean you need to work on the verbal - it is impossible to get 100%. I am not an expert on the wisc but you need a copy that shows all scores as the use of GAI instead of FSIQ with those scores suggests a much lower Working Memory and/or Processing Speed which could be a problem.

If the school was giving the WISC for gifted placement, it is possible they only gave the first two subtests and didn't administer the Working Memory and Processing Speed subtests. But it is definitely something to ask about. You'd also want to know if that 99.9 percentile is exactly at 99.9 or whether it is actually >99.9. Having the composite score associated with that percentile would be useful.

DD had similar scores, except Perceptual Reasoning was 99.9th percentile. Those scores translate to a General Ability Index of around 145-150.

The teacher probably wants to talk about gifted placement. I wish someone cared about MY dd's IQ and wanted to do something about it!

Ask how big of a gap there is between verbal and non-verbal. My DD's was 15-20 IQ points. The psych gave me a lot of info about visual thinkers, saying she probably thinks in images.

The test was done for gifted placement. What should I expect next?

A much more detailed report. You may have to fight for it though.
