    Yes, sorry, Wren. blush

In my defense, I did translate my made-up abbreviation at the start of my post. But I just wasn't going to type ALL THOSE LETTERS over and over!

    Wren,

I still have connections in the investment world. While I respect your opinion on hiring practices, I find it very limiting, black and white and according to my sources, not entirely true.
So I guess we'll have to respectfully agree to disagree.

Are there exceptions? I am one. I got hired over all the MBAs. They told me when I was interviewed, through a personal referral, that they were looking for an MBA for the position. Ten days later I was offered the job, and it was Merrill Lynch too. I covered retail stores: department and food. Then I got clothing.

Then I switched firms and worked for the top auto analyst, who was a woman. And no one asked after that where I went to school or what I took. So my actual situation is mutli-colored.

But I do wish to have you all over for a cocktail party, would be an interesting conversation. But then you wouldn't take me seriously.

I think Manasquan is quite different. We go there because it is family central, millions of kids.

    Ren,

Your experience is not unusual. The major law firms also take the easy way out - often preferring the big name law schools, always wanting law review. It's like a shortcut for them. 5-10 years out, it doesn't make a difference. Individuals excel based on their own merits, and the big firms are not as concerned with where the lateral hire went to school.
