Wow. I thought I would have to wait weeks but we had testing today and already have some info.
Overall it seemed to go well. DD is a little sick so I was stressed about that but it didn't seem to be bothering her much so I don't think it made a significant difference. I was also worried about anxiety but she seemed relaxed and happy and enjoyed the test.

The tester will finish the report and get it to me next week. I asked about the GAI and she said that would be in the full report. Normally she just gives the composite score summary to parents the same day but she gave me the tables and subset scores too. I found a table online and tried to calculate the GAI which was 146 if I did it right but am not sure since I didn't expect it to be as high as her verbal section. Does anyone know how to calculate it? I am a little surprised at her scores on the PSI as she is quite good at puzzles and I thought that would be reflected in the blocks section. Is it timed?
These are the scores though I am not sure if these are the ones that are meaningful to people off the paper

DD 6.2, going into 1st grade

    VCI 146 composite 99.9percentile
    Similarities 19 scaled subset score
    Vocab 19
    Comprehension 15

    PRI 129
    Block 13
    picture concepts 13
    matrix 18

    WMI 120
    Digit span 12
    letter-number 15

    PSI 118
    coding 11
    symbol search 15

Looks like the VCI might need extended norms with three nineteens. Since PSI and WMI are lower, you could calculate the GAI. The sum of the six VCI and PRI subtests is 101 which translates to a 151 GAI which Davidson has 145 as a valid qualifier for WISC GAI.

Oops. My 2 year old distracted me. That is a mistake. The comprehension was lower. I think it was 15. Let me see if I can correct my post

The block design subtest is timed... 30 seconds for the 4 block designs; 90 seconds (I think) for the 9 block designs.

    With a 15, That's a 97, which converts to 146 GAI.

From what I've read it might still be worth asking about extended norms with two nineteens.

I would ask about extended norms. I think she qualifies with two 19s and an 18. That is a pretty nice PSI, actually!

Thanks. I will ask the psychologist about that. Is that usually done at the original test (too late now) or something that could be done later. Not sure it matters too much if a GAI if 146 is enough for her to qualify for gifted resources. I was sort of expecting her to fall between MG and HG with stronger verbal scores and I think that is what this shows. Still, if it should be done I guess I want it done right.

I don't recall seeing anything requiring higher than a 145 score. Extended norms are a recalculation based on the raw scores from the original test.

Ah. Thanks a lot. Maybe that will be in the full report but I will ask.

First of all, the scores look great! Our DD's scores are very similar, except for the PSI.....she tends to get off task and distracted! Our DD is 6.3 yrs old and going into first grade, too!
    What are extended norms? GAI?
Sorry for all the questions! So great you could get information so soon!
