My 9 yo is still in fairies and princesses. She can read from entertaining fairies to classical series.

I am a conservative Christian and treasure her innocence. However, I would like to direct her into reading with more meaning and depth.

    Please help.

DD8 is with Susan Cooper. She started Children of the Lamp but by the 3rd book she complained the plots were the same. She also has Secret Garden.

Black Beauty, Where the Red Fern Grows, and I agree with a pp on the suggestions of The Little Princess and The Secret Garden. I've not read them because ds wasn't interested but there's a series called The Sisters Grimm.

Perhaps she'd like some of Edith Nesbit's books, like "The Phoenix and the Carpet" or "The Five Children and It" (the last one has a "sand fairy" that grants wishes, as I recall.)

    Hello everyone,

as a PG 23 year old no longer in school, I like to study a lot on my own in a wide variety of subjects. I'd love to receive feedback from anyone interested in and knowledgeable about Physics or Engineering.

I was wondering, what exactly are the 4 Maxwell Equations used for? Are these similar to the equations created by Hermann Von Helmholtz?

Thanks so much! I am really curious about this, especially the second question...

    Linhsan-

The - Focus on the Family - website has book reviews of a lot of books. Those reviews tell you if there is any profanity or sexual nature in the books. It also tells about the religious beliefs within the book.

I use this site from time to time if I come across a book I think DD7 or DD9 might like, but I haven't read, don't have time to pre-read, or if I have read a book in the past and just can't recall if there is anything in it that I don't think we are ready for just yet.
