Is there any correlation between a child's InView score and IQ score? My 7-year-old daughter (a second grader) scored 141 on InView, which I understand is the ceiling for that test. I am curious to know how the InView results relate to IQ. I want to know her IQ, but our school doesn't administer IQ tests. If she is moderately gifted, I believe our current school can help her. If she is highly gifted, we need to explore other options. The school suggested we have her tested (as in we would have to pay for it ourselves.) Any advice or tips would be so appreciated.

Since I posted this question, I have spoken with the school psychologist in charge of testing and she explained that the InView provides a "rough estimate" of IQ. It is not exact and only goes up to 141, so if your child scores a 141 like mine, it doesn't tell you her IQ. It only tell us that she is likely two standard deviations above the mean for IQ, or possibly three. To know for sure, I will have to pursue IQ testing. I am posting this explanation in case anyone else is wondering the same thing when trying to interpret their child's InView scores.

My son has just finished the 5th grade. He has taken a COG-T test twice since starting school. I really dont understand the grading but he scored extremely high on the "nonverbal reasoning" section. Does anyone know what this means?

63dad, you may want to start a different thread since you are discussing a different test. There have also been a number of threads here about the CogAT if you want to search for old threads.

Just to give you a basic overview, though, the CogAT is a group test and does not purport to be an intelligence or IQ test. The non verbal section is probably the section that is least subject to exposure or related to high achievement in school. Kids who score highly on the non verbal section tend to be more visual-spatial or out of the box thinkers.

I think that it also depends on what you mean when you say "extremely high" and how his scores on that section compare to other sections of the test.
