    No worries; I could have worded my message better. What I should have said was, "I suspect that the moms who only let you sign if you donate think they're being reasonable. After all, why should you get credit for something you didn't participate in?" This is where (IMO) they're failing to see that they're basically using public shaming to extract donations out of people.

    KISS is our mantra here...

    We have never contributed to group gifts to teachers, instead, my DD makes a craft type thing; a mug, a dreamcatcher or somesuch, writes a personal note on a card and we give them a plastic bear filled with the honey that our bees are kind enough to let us have.
