My youngest (7) is incredibly literal, much more so than my older two were at that age. He is also incredibly math-y in a much more innate way than my other two kids. And precise. Oh the converstaions we had trying to explain why the time on the clock in the car was different than the time on his watch (about a 30-second difference). This was a conversation that lasted days.... Time is time, it's exact, why would it show up differently? Argh....

Grandma once told my dd, "I love you to pieces!" at which point she came running to me hysterically crying and said," Momma, I don't want to be in pieces!"

Another time, I told her,"Staighten up and Fly Right!" and she said... I can stand straight like a board, but I don't know how to fly!"

"Why do people say I am going to fly on a plane from here to Seattle? Aren't you flying IN the plane not on TOP of the plane on the outside?"
