Thank you for advice and good questions to consider. I do believe my son purposely escalates situations so that he can justify his intense emotions. There's no talking to him when he's so very upset; it makes things worse. He's been doing better. I think he just feels emotions intensely and doesn't know what to do about it. We talk a lot and he's a great kid to be around, very personable and funny.
The school personnel were helpful and have set up a system that he can ask to leave the room if he needs. Teacher has a library book that she can give to him so he can take a walk if she sees he needs it. The emotional episodes happen rarely, just twice this year.
I spoke with PTA member about the extra work for gifted students.
I am planning to speak with retired teacher who might take him on just for some fun learning experiences. I have my hands full with a younger child who has special needs, so feel badly that I don't have as much time for our son as would like.
What do my son's scores on these tests mean? I understand that he is gifted, but are these scores rare or do most gifted students have these type of scores?
Thank you for your time.
