Hello All. Like many, I am new to this. I appreciate the knowledge sharing here.
My DC has a FSIQ of 145; one of the composite scores is 146; 3 scaled subtest scores are at or over 18 (meaning two are 19, one is 18); and I calculate the GAI as 103 or composite 154. (Tester did not proceed to use the special gifted test that I understand exists when the subtest is at 18 or 19)

Does this qualify for Davidson YS or do they generally want scores that are a lot higher? DC is so creative and engaged that finding resources right now is a priority. Any other suggestions on resources we should explore? Especially interested in friendships with other kids who share interest in going "in depth" into topics and who engage with sophisticated analysis. Grateful for insights.

    Hi blessedmom04,

Sorry we missed your post! If your DC has qualifying scores for achievement as well, I would say go ahead and apply, esp. considering the FSIQ is a qualifying score. If they want more info, they will ask.

DYS is a great program for finding kids with similar interests, but some other ideas are summer camps or afterschool classes that focus on your DC's interests. Hopefully others can chime in; I have to run right now.

I don't have achievment scores. Was doing the portfolio and recommendations.

Our school does not do any standardized testing at this age and I had hoped not to have to test "just for Davidson." With only scores and portfolio is that usually a problem?
