MyDS 6 drew an aerial view picture of a motorcycle. Is that something children can do(aerial view)? I am asking because I have completely underestimated my son all along. I honestly don't know what is typical for his age.

I have seen my DS4.5 do it too. I was really surprised. He's not much of an artist. Pretty poor fine motor skills but when he draws with a magnadoodle or on a white board, he does a very precise and technical job. He even looks at items and keeps comparing the ratios! lol

Regardless of his LOG, he's showing off a visual-spatial processing strength. A motorcycle is a very complex object to accurately visualize, rotate to view from different angles, and then draw out in 2d on paper.

Thanks! He was just given the label PG. Before he started K, I asked his preschool teacher if he should be held back because he would be the youngest and his writing was terrible. Lol. I thought that he had some strengths, maybe even gifted. When does a mother underestimate her child? So now I loonotk at everything he does and wonder what us typical and what is not.

With DS4.5 I used to think that he's perfectly normal and our friends' kids who are the same age are just a little bit slow. Then it hit me that they can't all be that slow smile. My son will also be probably the youngest in K this fall. I guess in our case the nature worked in our favor and "skipped" a year for him by being born couple weeks early, shortly before the deadline! He hasn't been tested yet and I don't believe he's PG though, but still full of surprises every day. Sounds like you'll have a lot of fun with him!
