I'm looking for info on gifted programs in the Nashville/Middle TN area for my son. He's currently in second grade and not being challenged. He loves school, but is beginning to become somewhat apathetic because "school is always so easy." We do not live in the Davidson County district, so are not eligible for ENCORE. He has been tested, so admittance into a program shouldn't be a problem. I simply can't find any programs outside the public school system. Can anyone recommend a private school that does a good job with gifted students? Any help is appreciated. Thank You!

Doesn't Vanderbilt have a weekend and summer gifted program? Have you checked those?

Yes they do. I should have clarified - I'm trying to determine if there are any other school options for gifted students - other than Metro Davidson County. While I'm sure the Vanderbilt program is great, I would love to find a school environment where he can be challenged daily. Thanks!

Davidson county has Encore, but it's not a daily program- just a once a week pullout for half day, and depending on the school, can range from average to good. I believe that williamson county does an IEP for each gifted child so that the plan is incorporated into daily schedule, put I am not sure- but I would check there. Franklin Special Schools district has some good summer programs that are reasonably priced. Good luck!
