I think the whole turn around is a good example of how a kid can change if their needs are met. Last year he was a mess in preschool. On all levels - emotionally, socially, academically and behaviorally, he was struggling. His preschool teacher told his OT that he was the most difficult child she had ever taught. She has been teaching for almost forty years.
We pulled him out of preschool, got OT and psych. assessments, switched from punitive to positive discipline, started OT and with the psych. rec. got him admitted for early K. It was a lot of work and worry but the overall improvement is remarkable.
It is the same school he attended for preschool and I don't think anyone there would have believed he could be doing so well in K when less than a year ago he was doing so horribly in preschool.
I think it is interesting because common wisdom would have said he was a kid who needed more growing up. Maybe even a late start rather than an early start to K.
