I took typing, back in the day, my senior year of high school. It was a semester long and an hour every day. I ultimately became a very fast, two-handed typist.
In today's world, it suddenly looks like I need to get my son to learn to type now! He's only in fourth grade.
I'm trying to decide what CD or program to buy. Does anyone have one that has worked? I think his school uses something called Type to learn 4- I think we can buy it for home use too. Is that a good option?

I have this one bookmarked to use in the future when my son's hands are big enough. I remember doing something similar in school. At one point they put a pillowcase over our hands while we did the lessons.

Dd10 likes Burning Cargo. It's a free online game where you pilot a plane and make deliveries. To take off, you do the next in a series of 2-minute typing lessons, which follow the same sequence I remember from high school.

My wife learned how to type properly, and earned a living as a receptionist, where typing speed is one of the required qualifications. I never took a class, and my typing style is anything but orthodox. This explains why she's so mad that I type faster than she does.

Bottom line: typing classes may not be as important as you think.
