What is the purpose of joining this society? What would I get for my $45? Is it just for scholarships and doing the summer programs? Any info would be great thanks =].

It rang a bell, which almost had to come from here for me, so I googled and found this old thread about a summer school they are affiliated with. Views there were negative.

Thanks! I actually read that thread but I was wondering more about the purpose of a membership than the sig program. My mother keeps bugging me to join and says she was a member back when I was younger but I don't really see why I should.

Given the lack of a chorus of people saying it's useful, I think you may be right!
