I just received my children's test results. I don't have subtests yet, though I was told that my daughter had every single question right on the math subtest until she got to the part requiring simultaneous solving of 2 equations, which the tester said she had never seen someone her age able to do. My son did inordinately well on the matrices. I understood they had to go the adult questions because he wouldn't get enough wrong to stop the test, though I'm not familiar with testing and may have misunderstood if this isn't making sense.

We could really use the assistance and resources of Davidson, if we indeed can qualify. What level does Davidson require? Do the kids need to be working 2 or 3 levels above grade? I've heard both. Is 99.9 qualifying or does it need to be 99.99?

Can anyone speak of what Davidson will be wanting from here?

My son's scores on DAS-II, one of the acceptable tests, were as follows:

    Verbal IQ: 162 99.9+
    Nonverbal Reasoning: 151 99.9+
    Spatial 124 95
    GCA 157 99.9+

My daughter's scores were as follows:

    Verbal IQ: 162 99.9+
    Nonverbal Reasoning: 144 99.8
    Spatial 121 92
    GCA 153 99.9+

    Thank you

Maybe someoone who has applied for the DYS program will chime in here with definitive answers, but I think that those are both well into DYS range.

I agree with the other two respondents. Looking at

    http://www.davidsongifted.org/young...holars___Qualification_Criteria_384.aspx

    I see

    Differential Abilities Scale-II (DAS-II)
Standard Score 145+ (99.9th percentile) on at least one of the following sections: General Conceptual Ability, Verbal Ability, or Nonverbal Reasoning

and both children on either the verbal ability or GCA measures.

Welcome! I think the IQ test scores are high enough that if you wanted to save money on achievement testing, even a halfway decent portfolio would result in entry.
