My son also loved the Magyk series.

I think his all-time favorite, after Percy Jackson, was the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan, and now he's moved on to his Brotherband Chrnoicles series.

Terry Deary's The Fire Thief and Anne Ursu's The Shadow Thieves (and their subsquent ones) were also big hits.

I recently saw this recommended for people who like Riordan and mythology: Secrets of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel series (starts with The Alchemyst) by Michael Scott

The Fablehaven series is fun. Lots of mythical creatures and battle. Between good and evil!

I believe there is now a 6th book in the series.

My son is on the 3rd of 6 The Titans Curse Percy Jackson and the Olympians I believe. He got the 6 pk from a school book before school let out.

He is also reading Throne of Fire 2nd in the The Kane Chronicles series.

He has also read the Lost Hero and the Son of Neptune from The Heroes of Olympus. The 3rd book from this series is to be out in August.

    He loves these books.

To date his favorite has been Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini, there is now a 4th in the set.

    A few more possibilities:

    The Catwings series
    The Earthsea series
The Dragonriders of Pern series (some sexy stuff but good fun)
    The Dark Is Rising series

Just a caution . . . I love The Dark is Rising, but it gives away Santa. A relatively sheltered kid might not notice it, but I sure did (as an adult re-reading it to see if DD9 was ready).
