I came across this website, which is run by parents who wanted to know more about the content/appropriateness of the books their kids were reading. It has reviews of books, which include language, themes, etc.

I thought it might be helpful to some others. I haven't perused every section, but it's a great idea for those of us who just can't keep up with what our kids read. We have long since passed the time when I could actually read books ahead of my kids and weed out the ones that I though were not appropriate for their age/stage.

Thanks - it looks great. We've used Common Sense Media in the past, but it doesn't always have what we need (especially books).

Thanks for these recommendations. My daughter and I are having our mother/daughter book club for the second year. She is now 14. We are reading books about the mother/daughter relationship.

Our first book this year is "Joy Luck Club". I found this in Common Sense Media and it looks to be about the right age for her to read this and see the movie. She can handle most topics fairly well - and there are some tough ones in this book.
