I know there has been a discussion about software or lessons of some sort for learning progamming for making video games, but I can't find it. Any good ideas?

Re: Minecraft -- My ds12 has been working with a Minecraft feature called "Redstone circuits." It seems to be a simulator for electronic logic circuits, which can be set up visually on the computer screen, including components and wiring, and then implemented in Minecraft.

He has learned quite a bit the last week or so about things like AND and OR gates, etc., and the associated logic. He is sitting with me right now designing a Redstone binary to decimal converter.

I try to comfort myself that his Minecraft obsession has some learning value....

will have to ask ds11 about the redstone circuits as he is also obsessed with minecraft!

My DS8 loves Minecraft, and is doing what I would call real programming using the computer craft mod. It's pretty cool. He programmed a remote control turtle to build a house today.
