I'm not sure why anyone here is concerned what their pediatrician thinks of their child's psychological/social/cognitive development. That's not their area. If my kid has a sinus infection or an arm injury, I'm interested in the pediatrician's take. Otherwise, not so much.

I understand about the pediatrician support thing... I don't know exactly what it was called, but SENG did a survey/study about parents of gifted kids and their experiences with their pediatrians.

Pediatricians who are more knowledgeable about gifted children, including seeing the early signs, can be vital in supporting parents along the way

    - better understanding some of the health or social/emotional or peer (such as loneliness or bullying) issues that gifted kids might be prone to (especially if they are more complex and/or out-of-sync for some reason based on their whole child package)
    - possibly brainstorming about education decisions along the way
    - offer parenting advice that is tailored toward these kids since they often need something besides the typical..and most parents of Gs have already tried the typical and it doesn’t work for their kid(s), they are truly trying very hard and not just pathetic parents : - 0 !!
    - helping brainstorm or guide when some issues need to be looked into...this is very important for helping navigate the insurance system with writing the correct scripts, plugging in those needed diagnostic codes to help things go smoothly, directing to the correct specialist...2Es might need this more
    - validating and supporting parents that already possibly feel overwhelmed, isolated from other parents and maybe even their families if they don’t get much support re G issues for some reason.
    - being a support/ally if parents decide to homeschool, just in case the school district gives them a hard time, this sometimes happens in some places

This is my opinion as a mom...based on experience
