I should know after we have our meeting. They've promised us sometime in January. I could just submit a portfolio with that then to DYS, right? I really need some guidance in what to do about her education.
Start the application to DYS now, send what you have. Do the portfolio option. The worst that will happen is that they will say that they need more information.
As for a grade skip, that sounds like a good idea. Perhaps bring the book 'Iowa Acceleration Scale Manual' with you to the January Meeting and start the conversation if they don't. She may need more than that, and they may be willing to start subject acceleration right now to get her ready, which seems reasonable. If she is in a half day program then try and perserve that short day for now, it's so wonderful for kids to have hours off to persue real learning at home.
