My husband may have an opportunity to accept a position at Ramstein AB, Germany. I am very concerned about whether the U.S. Defense Department school system would offer an appropriate education for our children. Others have told me that it isnt bad. I probably would be considered rude if I had asked what they offer for gifted students.

Since you all have gifted kids, I thought Id throw this question out to you. Does anyone have experience with the DoD system in general or the Ramstein area in particular? Please offer your insights. Thanks.

    Hello,

I am not familiar with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS), but I was able to find some information on the programs they offer on the Education America site: http://www.educationamerica.net/browse.phtml?sid=nn&eid=1076&a=eip

"The range of special programs available in DoDDS includes special education, English as a Second Language, and Talented and Gifted."

As you can see they indicate that they do provide programs for gifted learners, therefore it would probably be a good idea to find a contact who is familiar with their GT program.
