I am wondering how does the MAP test score differ from the scores of the other tests given to kids in schools.
If a child score is 99 percentile say in Math in MAP testing then does it mean that when they are assessed weekly or biweekly in school, should they be scoring 100% since the MAP score is so high.
How does the MAP test score and the other tests relate to each other?

    Thanks

MAP tests are out of level tests. They get harder or easier based on incorrect or correct responses. A percentile is different then a percentage. On a test 99% is 99 out of 100. For MAP, the 99th percentile is the child scored better then 99% of the kids in the same grade nationally.

There are so many different components that I would say that the two data points are only nominally related.

For example, my son didn't score very well on his 3rd grade long division test but he scored more like an average 7th grader on his MAP test. He doesn't like remainders and won't leave one on a division test but the 3rd grade answers are wrong. They're correct on a MAP test for the most part! Also, MAP is not supposed to be timed and students have as long as they need, at least theoretically. Most teachers time their classroom tests, even if it's just "We need to finish by recess".
