    Dear Ones,
I though I'd ask folks to create links to a few of their favorite threads. I'm looking for 'shining examples' of what our vision for Gifted Issues Discussion Forum.

Since 'our' vision is actually a collection of a whole lot of individual visions, I thought this might be an easy way to get an overview of what 'our' vision actually is.

I think every thread where someone introduces themselves. I think this board does a great job of welcoming people and making them feel it's ok and normal to ask questions, to feel uncertain and overwhelmed.

I came here as a newbie with a newly HG/PG kid and had no idea what I was looking for in a community. I have a private gifted board that I used for my "support" but this was my "research" board. I have found 99% of the threads to be informative, polite, respectful and engaging. A few have veered away from this lately, but like a car accident on the side of the road, I avert my eyes. I would really hate to lose the other 99% in an effort to avoid the 1%.

I remembered this as a cringe-worthy thread, but after rereading think it is a good example of things getting slightly contentious at times but in the end winding up all right, and with good-quality content to boot.

I don't think there's much if anything wrong with that first part, actually. It was more the extensive discussion on coloring books later on in the thread.

I think we do really well whenever any scores or levels of giftedness are discussed that there isn't competitive. I think this is a great achievement!
