Thanks everyone for the excellent thoughts shared here today.
I've noticed that, as humans, we are have strong feelings about parenting questions that have no 'right answer.' I get the idea that many people enjoy the 'back and forth' discussion of things like 'should we force kids appologies?' and 'What makes a child grow up spoiled?'
So I'd like to suggest that was use this as a Snark-positive/Feeling judgemental of other people's parenting choices thread.
I hate reading posts about 'It's wrong to do x' and 'Allowing X to happen will lead to bad outcomes and misery.' So I won't read this thread!
Frankly, lots of us are going to have lots of misery while raising our children - it comes with the territory. Lots up us are miserable some or all of the time as adults, and when our children grow up, they will probably be just about as miserable we are (as a group.) Maybe the misery will only last 15 minutes, or 3 days, but when it hits us, it hits us hard!
But we are gifted, and gifted people have lots of opinions - so have at it - Here's a place to state your opinion and hear the opinions of others.
Pasifier or thumb? Family bed or cry it out? Mom as wage earner or not?
Mark, if this is a terrible idea - delete this thread - it's ok with me, I'll never even know! But there are times when we have drifted so far off the OP's topic, and get into a 'yes/no' and people have stopped reading each other's post's carefully, that we need to have a place to 'step outside!'
Snark and More Snark,
Grinity
