I always tell my peeps what I'm teaching Wyatt3.5 right in front of him. �A few months ago we cracked open the critical think company's "reading for gifted kid's gr.1" and I made mention that it was cool that the questions dealt with characters that grow and change rather than "name the character who did it?" We've taken a few months hiatus. �This assignment was his first writings that had a character grow and change! �Until now he has only told the story of what was happening. �If somebody felt something it was only mentioned as a detail. �In the latest story the boy caught the bats, fed them, then changed the way he felt about them. �The second confession is that I took a chance on a good idea and bought a middle school 6+1 traits (2out of the 4) and read the teachers comments page on "ideas" to my boy. �He's very teachable. �It included questions like, "what do you know IRL about the things you're talking about?". And, "what would someone reading your story want to know about?" The following story was written to a prompt for reading eggs. �There's a picture bank and a topic and he has to arrange them how he wants and make up a story to go with it.
