Does anyone know what a teacher rating scale is? it shows: A/I & (and the number given is 58) C/M/L (and the number given is 76)
I just got my daughters placement results, and she made GT in math, but not in reading, which is her strength (She had a 99% in aptitude for reading and only 93% in math). I am shocked. I was very pleased with her teacher this year, and she was tough, but I liked it, because for the first time, my DD didn't think she could just breeze through life. Her form said she has an average of a B for reading... where was I all this year??? I feel so guilty, because she is so independent I provided NO guidance (my other children have higher needs and I hand hold them through everything.) I'm not the kind of mom that lets a B average slide.... once, ok, but you better get that up, or else. Anyway, I'm wondering if these teacher scales are good or bad?

If this is anything like the teacher rating scales that are used in my district, the A/I/C/M/L stand for Academics,Interests, Creativity, Musical Talent,and Leadership.

Yes, that is me. Oh, ok, that makes sense. Wow... she did very poorly on those, but those are probably to weed out (or in) the truly gifted that don't test well. I honestly don't think she has "gifted" needs, but she has always been higher in reading. She missed the first pathway by one point, as her overall aptitude test was 97%. Her achievement score was the EOG's, which I am very surprised were higher in math than reading. I guess I'm most surprised she got in for math and not reading, as that is soooo not indicitive of MY child.

She only has 2 of the 4. The first two are the same test, the Inview Aptitude test. She got a 97% overall, so that meets the first. Then she got a 99% on the reading part, so that meets the second. But she got an 82 on her EOG -so she doesn't have that one, and has a B average (I'm still confused about that one... can't find her last report card anywhere, but I'm sure they looked it up)- so doesn't have that one either.

No, they don't go through it every year. Once you are in, you are in, which is good.
In contrast, if you don't make it in the first year, or maybe the second, you are unable to take advanced classes in middle school, which prevents you from taking AP courses in high school, which will prevent you from getting into a good college, which will...... just kidding.
She will be fine, I'm super relieved and surprised she got in for math, which isn't her strength. But in my opinion, that is much more important, because they cover a lot more material. She is very strong in reading, and I've always felt that is a subject that they can advance on their own, where math needs some instruction on things they aren't exposed to (as with my DD6 in the other thread). This will give her some motivation to try harder and give more effort to her work, because her B's were from carelessness in her classwork.
Is Inview test not the IQ testing?... I'm so confused on ability/aptitude/achievement testing and all their interchangable adaptations.
