We're thinking of doing some private testing this summer, but the closest tester is three hours away. If we're going to have to drive/fly anyway, we might as well make a vacation out of it.
We're East Coast (Baltimore and Washington and Philadephia are doable), but we'll be vacationing in N Cal and Washington during the summer.
Where would you go?

Ed Amend, Lexington Kentucky. He is hands down amazing. I keep expecting that someone must have had a bad experience, because no one is perfect, but I've never heard a single negative story.

We just tested at JHU CTY, Dr. Mickenburg. Very good experience and tons of work with gifted kids. My child really enjoyed the experience and it was very thorough.

Our son really enjoyed his experience with Dr. Deborah Ruf in Golden Valley, Minnesota. He took both the WIAT-III and the Stanford-Binet 5th edition with her. My wife discovered Dr. Ruf's book about the 5 levels of Giftedness and it really opened my eyes about his potential.

My dd5 is pretty typical 'obvious' gifty; I think I could take her anywhere and get a good experience, or at least a good test result. I think I heard Dr. Amend works with more unusual kids... is that right? Ds10, if we ever retested in a major way (which I doubt) I now know I would need to find someone who was familiar with the utterly unfamiliar kind of kid.
