DS did ID last year. He did it as a sleep away camp and had a really good time. It was his first sleep-away camp; he got his own dorm room, ate well, and made friends. Mostly he worked on his computer game and then they did camp stuff as well. The counselors were really fabulous and I have no real complaints.

Except I'm not really sure that he learned anything. Part of me felt like I could have just bought the game design program they used and DS could have worked on it in our basement in the morning and then he could have played games with neighborhood kids in the afternoon and gotten just as much out of it, except of course the great experience of being away from your parents for a full week. I guess I'm sayiing that although it was very professional and fun, it wasn't amazing. We're trying something completely different this year--a week of wilderness skills and animal tracking (for 1/4 the price of Tech camp!)
