I don't know if this helps, but when my daughter was 3y5m, she was tested with a WPPSI that was somewhat abbreviated (for acceptance into a gifted school). I believe that because she was under the age of 4, she did not have every subtest.
She had 3 verbal subtests (receptive vocabulary, information and picture naming) and 2 performance subtests (block design and object assembly).
But the test results were not a "general idea" about IQ. I was given a specific score for Verbal, Performance, General Language and FSIQ. And the test was still called the WPPSI-III.
