I would if the psychologist specialised in giftedness, because as you say, it's a common concept in the literature aimed at parents. If not, I wouldn't personally. My quick test is to go to Google Scholar and try searches like
dabrowski positive disintegration
etc. I didn't see any very highly cited papers in the list, or a very large number of papers at all, which suggests that the topic may not be mainstream. Maybe Mom2MrQ was just lucky to hear about it in a general psych class? It would be interesting to know when other people who've studied psychology first heard of it - I haven't.
