The ERB is only for "independent schools" ie. private like Dalton, Trinity etc.

It is not used for the citywide gifted public programs, which use the OLSAT -- which is even worse for an indicator of IQ. Hunter still uses the SBV as an entrance screening to get to the interview stage. And they have to be administer by a group of psychologists that are approved by Hunter.

So which is actually an intelligence test etc....

There are things you can prep for and not. Like this year, we prepped for the OLSAT because the results were terrible. This year she got into the 99th percentile. But what we prepped was listening through 60 questions in a classroom setting. Trying not to get distracted -- which was clearly an issue last year, as I reviewed the results. You could teach your child how to answer the questions and many kids that are tested at 4 or 5 years do prep well. But after that, the tests really weed them out.
