ROFL - my son very much had a stage like this. It drove me nuts at the time, but thinking back to it I have to laugh!
He often asked for his definitions while we were riding in the car. Colinsmom - that was EXACTLY my kid too. Dictionary style definition needed of the obvious and the not so obvious.
Luckily he grew out of it. And his sister never seemed quite as bad, but I think she also could bounce things off her intense brother. It took the heat off of me a bit.
I don't have any great advice! I just kept answering the questions. That was an intense year.
