I'm beginning to think it will be impossible to find an IQ test that will show how capable my highly verbal 14 y.o. son is. We've tried both the WISC IV and the Woodcock Johnson and both tests ended before he could reach the ceiling on multiple verbal subtests. I don't have the numbers in front of me but he is not "well-rounded" enough to hit the scores he needs to qualify. His talent search scores would be sufficient to qualify him even if he were two grades further along than he is. The school psychologist can't imagine how anyone could hit 150+ at age 14 on the Woodcock Johnson. My son missed very few answers and could have continued multiple subtests if there had been more questions, yet, if I recall correctly, he only came out at 142. I wish I had found a psychologist I could afford long ago. I'm sure he could have proven himself on a test if he had been younger.
