Ok, another meeting with the school, another pile of papers in hand, and at least we know where we're going at the moment with DS7.

He has a new ALP that puts him (in 2nd grade overall) into 3rd grade reading class and 5th grade math class, on a daily basis now as opposed to weekly as we've been doing while we waited to figure things out. Apparently he does much better socially in the 5th grade class, and the math teacher reports that he gave the class a problem that his 5th graders didn't get the answer to but DS7 got the right answer. smile That'll be getting 5th grade moving, won't it?

I have conflicting reports on his levels in all this paperwork, so I'm not sure where it stands. NWEA says reading is 2nd grade gifted (201 and 214) and math is 4th grade gifted (224), and below it says math is at a 7th grade level and reading is at a 5th grade level. The Lexile scores don't seem so high (519-669) but that may be brought down by his lower comprehension? He has always been 99th percentile on the NWEA tests, so it's hard to tell.

His scores on the ASDS for Asperger's are ranging in the 90-110 "Likely" category, but not the "Very Likely" one.

They are starting him on two periods a day with their new computer program called Success Maker--one for reading and one for math--to help relieve the social stress and give him time to chill out as well as learning on the computer. They have also invited him to join something called the Elementary Destination Imagination Team, whatever that is. The school is doing so much for him, so we are very lucky there. He got his third "bully slip" today, but they said that they are not going to ever suspend him or anything because they have him in these programs for the 2E stuff and they know it's an ongoing process.

So that's where we're at!
