We have two local libraries with children's programs, we're inbetween. One that we went to first is terrible (quiet, severe, slow paced reading of dull stories) and the other is wonderful (puppets, enthusiasm, children's names all known by librarians). We feel so lucky to have such a resource, and free. We go all the time.
I even was able to ask the librarians there about that town's schools -- they go to preschools and elementary schools doing their "show", they have a unique perspective getting to compare all the schools.
