I am using the first book with my DD6's. I did buy the activity guide and would highly recommend that if you choose to use this series. I think it is great for this age range but keep in mind it is written in a story format. It is actually used with the history curriculum I bought for my DD9 as well. I think the first book is young for her. We are still using it but added Speilvogel for her. I think it is a nice introducation to chronologic history.
I have heard great things about the CD's. I have also heard great things about the Mysteries of History series.
