At what age/grade, do they stop letting kids write on the dotted line paper and start using wide ruled? I can clearly remember still using the primary/dotted line paper in like 2nd grade, at least. Anyone know?

DS5.5 has a homework journal that his teacher puts his assignments in. Generally, it's read a book and answer 3 questions or write 3 sentences. Well, DS5.5 is a perfectionist, so he erases his lower case a's 100 times to get it perfectly right on the wide ruled paper... whereas if he had the dotted line paper, he'd be ok. I requested that he be able to use the paper, and I've even offered to buy the paper/notebook for him. I'm just waiting to hear back from the teacher and thought I'd ask you all in the mean time.

He had a meltdown over that letter a!!! I felt so bad because physically, he's tall and really coordinated. He has decent other fine motor skills (used a fork at like 9 months old, etc). But he struggles a bit with his handwriting. He does MUCH better with the larger spaced lines.
