OMG Florida, our kids could talk.
DD 29 mos. is bug obsessed, too. She loves to "rescue" bugs that land in the kiddie pool, althoughh it's a dubious fate, since she then carries them around, pries them open to see how they work,and otherwise kills them. She is crazy for snails and - I don't know why I do this but - I have to remind her to stop taking their shells off to examine them.
The other day I saw a giant potato bug (big, disgusting brown bug) and said to her, "Come here! Come here! I have something for you to see!" I helped her get it into her sand pail. As I walked away, she was staring lovingly into the pail, saying under her breath, "I love bugs. I love my big bug."
Based on this, I was tempted to start a thread called, "What do you think your DC will grow up to be" because we are definitely leaning towards entomologist.
