Hi, I'm new here. My DS6 is finishing 1st grade. He was tested in Kindergarten and qualified for the gifted program at school. Our school uses a test called the RIAS to determine IQ. He had a 158 verbal and 160 non-verbal and a 160 overall. This is the only testing the district did. He has an IEPG. I find that many programs for gifted children that are available outside school do not accept this IQ test for entry into programs. Is there a particular reason? Is it inaccurate? Is it just new? Is it unreliable? I could use some advice and would prefer to avoid private testing if possible. Please help.
