My question would be how much your child gained over the course of the school year. My second graders just took the MAPS tests - 14 of 22 scored in the 200s with 7 of them scoring 210-222 in math/10 of them scoring 207-225 in reading. Do they all need to be pulled out and accelerated? No. Their 3rd grade teachers DO NEED to know that,as a group, they have high mathematical and reading skills and will need to address those skills within the classroom.

For the record - many of these children had +20-38 point gains from fall to spring. I think it's less about the GT designation and more about the learning opportunities.
