I'd look for a public school cohort program where all GT kids are grouped in the same classroom by ability then moved through a curriculum at an accelerated pace starting from K through HS. I'd also look for a school that will admit you before you move. It then comes down to how you like the teachers.
I'd then find tutors in specialized subjects that DS/DD is interested in once they reach that stage - ie math, science, arts, foreign languages, flying lessons, etc. I would not want to be so tied down to a crushing load that other interests could not be added in.
I would then find a house within a 5 min drive of the school.
We've done some looking around for Mr W and we are holding off on buying a new home until we figure this out. We think that saving our $$ for specialized instruction and travel (summers abroad when young and in teen years ) along with public school will give Mr W the widest education possible.
