Lori, I am sorry that you are going through all this but I am glad you've gotten your health issues under control.
I felt really, really bad when I found out that I had lost thousands of dollars I had invested in a state college savings plan for my son's college education.
My brother in law is in the investing business and he reminded me when my kids college savings plans went down that we haven't actually lost any money at all unless we sell. So if you can hang in there, it will most likely go back up eventually, and as young as your son is, you have the time. So try not to worry about that at least!
