I just had one of those "Am I or am I not crazy?" moments this week.

DS7 has been doing fine at his homeschool work, but when you're in the thick of it, and you see him doing things that aren't easy for him--even struggling with something from time to time...Well, I have to admit that I start thinking that he's not that advanced and maybe I am something of a nut to think that he's better off at home than he would be at our particular school.

Okay, so to make sure we've dotted our Ts and crossed our Is before testing this spring, I have been giving him some at-grade-level work just on the fly. Well, um, he covered all of alphabetizing in about 3 minutes, no exaggeration. That was a 2nd-4th grade workbook, and he was rolling his eyes at how easy it was. He didn't have to think even for a second about any of it! He got the hardest ones right while playing with his Pokemon cards at the same time! And he's not even a particularly good listener, so this stuff was even easier for him than it sounds! :p

At times like that, I realize that no, I'm not a nut. At least not about this. (Ha!) He really is THAT far ahead, and he really would be miserable in our school system if we didn't do something significant for him.

So yes, I think you do keep having those moments. I completely agree!
