Hi shellymos,
my ds7 skipped K. We don't regret it for a minute. It was hard at first to consider it as an option, but once we realized where he was compared to other kids entering K we felt much better about the skip. We considered doing K for the play and social aspect, but then knew our son would be upset to leave those friends and skip 1st. Sure enough, now he's in 3rd and really could academically be in 4th. He is adamant about not wanting to leave his friends even though he complains that most of 3rd grade is boring and easy. Your child may be quite different and do fine with that - skipping first. Really is a kid by kid decision.
